Screens a household for Medi-Cal, Enhanced Silver cost-sharing reductions, premium tax credits, Medicare age, employer-offer conflicts, and whether enrollment is open right now.

**What the assistant provides:** state, ZIP, household size, expected yearly income, ages, whether anyone has an affordable employer offer, any qualifying life event in the last 60 days, pregnancy.

**What comes back:** household income as a percentage of the federal poverty level with the source year, flags such as Medi-Cal likely (adults or children), Enhanced Silver, subsidy possible, employer offer, Medicare age, whether enrollment can start now, the current enrollment window (open enrollment November 1 to January 31; special enrollment within 60 days of a qualifying event; Medi-Cal year-round), plain-language notes and a disclaimer.

**Rules**

- This is screening. Final eligibility is decided by Covered California and Medi-Cal in the application. Say so.
- Outside open enrollment and without a qualifying event, do not start an enrollment.
- Anyone 65 or older belongs to Medicare, a separate product line with its own rules. Do not quote them a subsidized marketplace plan.
